Daddy Issues

Daddy issues.. most of us either know of someone who’s got them or have experienced them personally. A father's role or his lack in our lives can have a deep impact on the rest of our lives.

Father is a hard word for many people in this world to sit with. It brings up emotions. Past hurts. Scars. Empty dreams. Or regret.

Maybe the word dad or father leaves a void in you that you don’t know will ever be filled because you never experienced a father in your life. Maybe you have experienced a father, but a horrible one that left you with a broken heart and a mess of trauma to clean up in your adult life. Maybe because of your earthly father you struggle to see our Heavenly Father for who HE really is.

You’re not alone.

Like it says in Psalm 68:5, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.”

He is a loving Father who protects His children and never leaves them without a loving hand upon their lives. Regardless of who you share DNA with on this earth. Regardless of how bad your upbringing was, He will use it for good. He will not leave you empty and full of pain. He is true to his nature, which is pure, holy and love.

Our Heavenly Father is kind and compassionate. Always present and never absent. He is incapable of abuse, mistreatment or rage. He cannot deny who He is and He IS love. He embodies fully the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13. He’s patient with you. He walks beside you. He has grace for your mess ups and missteps. He looks upon you with affection and adoration. He delights in you just simply being who He created you to be. He will not turn His back on you. He will not abandon you. He will not hurt you. Scar you. Or rack up therapist bills for you after living under His roof for 18 years. He’s the purest form of good.

He heals us. He holds us. And He is the greatest Father you could ever dream to have.

If you have the heavenly Father, you are better off than an unbelieving person with an amazing earthly father any day.

Jesus even goes so far to say in Matthew 23:9, “And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.”

No matter how your earthly father may fail you, your heavenly Father, the almighty God cannot fail. His ways are always higher than our ways. His plan is always better for us than our own. He is the greatest father you could even begin to imagine. We can trust Him with our lives, our dreams and our plans. He is our Father, we are the clay, and He is the potter; we are all the work of His hand (Isaiah 64:8).

If you belong to the kingdom of God you will never again be fatherless. He is the Father to the Fatherless.

With love, Tiffany
